What's coming up!
- April 16th: Papa John's and Cob's Treat Fun Lunch
- April 22nd: Spirit Day- Earth Day
- April 23rd: Nutritional Program
- April 24th: No School- Non-Instructional Day
We’re excited to share that students in Grades 3 will be taking part in a nutrition program April 23rd!
During the program, students will:
- Learn about nutrition and Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating
- Apply what they’ve learned by preparing healthy snacks in class
Try ingredients and products from local companies
To participate fully, students will be making and tasting a healthy snack. An Acknowledgement of Risk form has been sent home and must be signed to give permission for your child to eat the snack.
- Students without a returned form will still take part in the learning activities but will not be able to make or eat the snack.
Please email me if there are any food allergies the school is not already aware of.
Thank you for your support—we’re looking forward to a fun and educational experience for our students!
Here is what we have been learning this week...
Literacy: This week grade 3's have been working on writing a paragraph for their predictions on A Rover's Story for what they think will happen next and how it will end. Check your child's back pack for some homework, if they did not finish their paragraph. Next week we have new spelling words. Our word wizards words will be changed on a weekly basis, unless is it a short week then I will extend the practice to two weeks. Thank you for your continued support with their spelling. Our new words are: each, down, found, only, back, something, sometimes, those, idea.
Math: For math this week, our focus has been on representing and identifying fractions on a number line; and comparing fractions for which is greater than or less than. Next week we will continue to practice comparing fractions and participate in various fractions.
Social Studies: Grade 3's learned about how we use natural resources in our everyday life, and how National and Provincial Parks are protected. Ask your child what natural resources they use in their daily life and why we protect our parks!
Health & Wellness: We started a new unit on Growth and Development. Students have been making connections to how much they have grown and changed over the year.
