It has been a very exciting first week filled with three birthday celebrations and two teeth falling out! Ask your child about the V.I.P. bin!

Your child will be using Chrome books and iPads this year, we are requesting to send in a pair of headphones for them to use when using technology. Thank you!!! :)

We were really well at our new routines! See what is coming up and what we have been up to below :)

  • Sept. 26th: Orange Shirt Day
  • Sept. 29th: No School- Professional Development
  • Sept. 30th: No School- National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

What we did this week!

Literacy: We read A LOT of books this week. We read...."The World Needs More Purple People", "We Don't Eat Our Classmates", "I'm Trying to Love Math", "First Day Jitters", "Me and My Sit Spot", "The Bad Seed", "All the Ways to be Smart", "All Are Welcome Here, "A letter From my Teacher",and "Our Class is a Family. We also wrote a letter to our teacher- me, Mrs. Schu.

Math: We started to practice our math routines with math talks. We connected math to the world around us by finding math in nature- "Where does math live?". We created a banner about how math is connected to us (ex., how maybe teeth we have lost, how many letters are our name, etc).

Science: Grade 3's played a game called Jump the River. First students tried to jump over a river from our village to get to the food on the other side, but the river kept getting larger by a flood. Then we were challenged to design or invent something to help us cross the river. Students worked together, communicated, and presented their ideas.

Social Studies & Field Journal: We picked out our sit spot on the field. A Sit Spot is a special place on the land where we can observe and be present with the nature around us. Today we drew pictures of what we saw, heard, smelt, or felt!

Visual Arts: We did  a lot of art....we made a cover for our visual journals that displays how smart we are, we created bookmarks, we decorated name tags for our coat hooks and cubby containers.
