Valentine's days: On Friday Feb. 13th students are welcome to bring in valentines to hand out to others. Please do not send food or candy with your valentines. On the 9th, I will send home a list of names for your child to prepare their cards for each student! This is completely optional.

Here is what we have been learning this week...

Literacy: This week, we finished learning about morphology with the prefix mal-. I am looking forward to seeing them add some new vocabulary into their writing. Next week, we will be focusing on opinion writing. Since we have a short week next week, we will be practicing our spelling words for two weeks.  Our new Word Wizard words for the next two weeks are: from, said, one, won, walk, should, here, why, next and how.

Math: Grade 3's learned how to use a multiplication chart as a tool to support their understanding of multiplication and division facts. We also started to practice applying our skills through a variety of games and activities through centers.

Science: Students created an earth! Ask your child to cut it in half and to tell you about the layers of the earth! We also explored science on our winter walk.

Social Studies: Grade 3's have started to learn about Black History month. During this month we will shine a spotlight on important figures and how they have made an impact to communities around the world. Today on our spotlight was Mae Jemison!

Physical Education: We were getting ready for the olympics. Meet your new members of the curling team!

Have a great weekend!
