Here is what we have been learning this week!
Literacy: Grade 3's were introduced to procedural writing and they were given the task, "How to Catch a Yeti". Students planned ideas first by building with Maker Space items, then they prepared their writing by planning out their steps. Next week, they will write their instructions for how to catch a yeti. We also practiced cursive letters j, p, r, s & t.
Math: Our focus this week was applying our addition and subtraction skills to real life situations. Grade 3's shopped at Tim Horton's and they also were given a budget of $37.84 to go grocery shopping. On Thursday for fun, we had a snowball fight in our classroom. Ask you child about our snowball fight.
Science: Grade 3's were introduced to a new science unit- Forces!
Social Studies: Ask your child how many Indigenous Communities are in Alberta!
Visual Art: We completed a few thoughtful art tasks this week. One, we made stickers to give to a friend or an adult. Two, grade 3's created a card for a senior who are residing in a nearby senior home. We hope their cards bring them joy over the holiday season.
Physical Education: Group skipping was the skill student's mastered this week.
Stay warm and healthy! Have a great weekend.
