Here is what we have been learning this week! 

Literacy: The focus this week was non fiction writing and elements of fiction story writing. Grade 3's read or listened to an article on, "The Great Pacific Garbage Patch", and wrote a summary about it. Students also started to write their Diary of a____ story for science, while learning about sizzling story starters and dialogue.  Our new Word Wizard words are: great, before, also, different, away, off, never, city, story, thought. We will practice these words for two week, as requested by students. 

Math: Grade 3's created a perimeter zoo! They designed enclosures to suit a specific animal, and pathways. Then they measured the perimeter of their animal enclosures.  

Science: Students finished their group posters on Indigenous learning with the seasons and the land, and presented what they learned! Ask your child to find their poster and explain the season they created! 

Social Studies: Next week we will start a new unit about citizenship! 

Visual Art: Art this week was inspired by math- angles! Students created an abstract angle art piece that practiced shading techniques while looking for acute, obtuse and right angle angles. 

Physical Education: Student's have been learning about and practicing volleyball.
