Here is what we have been learning this week:
Literacy: This week the grade three's learned about figurative language. We created, similes, metaphors, hyperboles, and personifications. Next week, we will learn how to implement figurative language in our writing and with creating poetry. Word Wizards will continue to practice their words until Thursday: think, two, play, three, after, our, does, these, school, saw.
Math: Comparing polygons, transformations (i.e., rotations, reflections, and translations), and centres were our focus this week. Next week we will wrap up our geometry unit, and have our SWYK on Thursday.
Science: Grade three's learned about the layers of soil, fossils that lie within the soil, and dinosaurs that roamed Alberta. We also had the most fun being Palaeontologists.
Indigenous Learning: Grade three's really enjoyed our time learning from Chantal our Knowledge Keeper that visited NLS this week. Student's learned about the medicine wheel, the animals that represent each section, words in Cress, and the legend of turtle island; all through oral story telling. Grade three's also learned a new song and drumming techniques.
Visual Art: Do you love our Polygon Picasso's?
